Infection Control: Regulations & Professional Conduct Standards

Full course description
Participants will learn to take ownership of upholding infection prevention and control standards, reduce the spread of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), and how to report and monitor HAIs to reduce their prevalence for their colleagues and patients. The program is delivered in video format with a visual PowerPoint presentation and case scenarios. The program is approximately one hour in duration. Participants must complete all assessments and videos within the course.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Pharmacists, fellows, medical students, nursing students, health care administrators and other health care professionals may benefit from this education in this activity.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After participating in this activity, clinicians will be able to:
- Define the scope and implications of health care-associated infections
- Identify the need for infection prevention and control
- Define acceptable principles of infection control and recognize the responsibility of health care professionals to adhere to infection control and prevention practices
